Changes for WPTE Employers (formerly Enhance)

Posted in General News and Newsletters

What is changing?
At the moment for WPTE employers we generate an expected level of contributions based on the normal earnings information for the pay period and then they can make any necessary adjustments.

The current process does not include a full validation of the contributions as no updated payroll information is requested if changes are made.

In order to ensure that we gather the actual earnings along with the contributions we need to change the process so that employers upload a contribution file each month which includes the earnings information.
For employers who have been making changes using a file upload, this format will no longer be applicable, and they will need to move to the format provided in the links below.

When does the change take effect?
September 2024 will be the last month that the scheme will be generating contributions.   From 30 September 2024 (for weekly paid) and 1 October 2024 (for monthly paid) the contributions will need to be uploaded to the Workers Pension portal.

The first contributions will be accepted in the new format from 21 October 2024.  We would encourage employers to upload the first week’s contributions as soon after this date as possible to ensure there are no issues with the file.   The deadline for receipt of October upload files will be 7 November 2024.

What is the contribution file format?
This link shows the new contribution file format for the pension contributions.

Payroll systems should be able to generate this file in the correct format for Workers Pension. For information on this go here. If the payroll system is unable to generate a file you can easily create a template in Excel or the details can be entered directly onto a datagrid on screen. Please note that the contributions should continue to be based on basic salary rather than all earnings.

Guidance notes on uploading contributions can be found here

Once the contributions have been uploaded employers will be able to download a copy of the contribution statement as before - this will show a summary of what has been uploaded for each employee

The direct debit will be collected in the same way as before.
